REPERTOIRE NOTICE
The BSI is pleased to announce the repertoire for the Royal Albert Hall Gala concert on Easter Sunday 12 April 2020

 

Registration will be invited from Suzuki students of the established BSI instruments: Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Piano, Recorder, Viola and Violin.

 

For the Royal Albert Hall Gala concert, students must be at the following minimum level (all Book 2): Cello: Two Grenadiers; Double Bass: by invitation; Flute: Minuet in B minor; Piano: Arietta;  Recorder: Menuet; Viola: Two Grenadiers; Violin: Lully Gavotte

 

Students of any level can apply for the Playtogether concerts.

 

Gala Concert repertoire will include:

 

Cello:

  • Haydn Concerto in C major mvt 1,

  • Von Paradis Sicilienne,

  • Casals Song of the Birds, edition to be confirmed

  • Squire Danse Rustique,

  • Schumann Two Grenadiers

 

Flute:

  • Bach Minuet & Badinerie from Suite No.2 in B minor,

  • Last Rose of Summer

 

Piano:

  • Mozart Sonata K331 mvt 3 “alla turca”,

  • Mozart Sonata K545 mvt 3,

  • Beethoven Sonatina in F mvt 2,

  • Kuhlau Sonatina in C mvt 2,

  • Mozart Arietta

*audition videos will be required, details to follow

 

Recorder:

  • Handel Larghetto,

  • Handel Bourree & Hornpipe from Water Music

 

Viola:

  • Seitz Concerto in C minor mvt 1,

  • Bach Gavotte in G minor,

  • Schumann Two Grenadiers

Violin:

  • Mendelssohn Concerto mvt 3 (Special Gala version available from BSI)

  • Bartok Romanian Dances 1, 2, 5&6 (Barbara Barber version)

  • Massenet Meditation (Barbara Barber version),

  • Bach Double mvt 1,

  • Seitz Concerto No.2 mvt 3 (Seitz 1),

  • Lully Gavotte  

There will also be additional special arrangements for all instruments (details later),  including Greensleeves and a Medley of Suzuki repertoire pieces
